The Problem

Overview

Athletics departments become harder to manage when athlete data, equipment usage, facility coordination, and administrative oversight live in separate spreadsheets or disconnected workflows.

Target Users

Athletics office administrators, coaches, staff, and personnel responsible for athlete support, equipment, facilities, and compliance.

Real-World Issue

The system addresses the need for one reliable workspace where the department can monitor athletes, track assets, review performance and academic signals, and manage day-to-day operations with less friction.

Challenges + Solutions

Challenge

Representing many moving parts in one athletics ecosystem without turning the product into a cluttered administrative tool.

Solution

The experience was split into focused modules, such as dashboard, athletes, inventory, and settings, so users could move directly to the workflow they needed while still staying inside one unified system.

Challenge

Balancing high-level operational visibility with detailed athlete and equipment management.

Solution

The product paired executive summary views with drill-down pages, giving administrators fast visibility while still preserving detailed records for athletes and assets.

Keeping operational issues actionable instead of burying them inside static reports.

Solution

Alerts, pending requests, maintenance indicators, and issue-specific actions were surfaced directly inside the interface so staff could respond from the system instead of only reading about problems after the fact.

Final Learnings

This project taught me how much value comes from designing around operational reality instead of just data storage. It pushed me to think in systems: how dashboards, profiles, equipment workflows, and permissions all need to support each other if the product is going to feel genuinely useful to the department.
